MRG Chair wins prestigious award in South Africa for her work against apartheid

On 8 December, in Pretoria, South Africa, Gay J. McDougall, Minority Rights Group International’s (MRG) Chair, was awarded the Order of the Companions of OR Tambo (Silver).

Bestowed by the country’s president to “eminent foreign persons” for “friendship to South Africa,” the award will be given to Ms. McDougall “for her excellent contribution in the fight against apartheid and injustices meted out on the black majority.”

MRG heartily congratulates Ms. McDougall on receiving this most prestigious of awards, and for her tireless, and decades-long work combating discrimination and racism around the world.
