New Outsider now online

The latest edition of Outsider, MRG’s newsletter is now online. Articles in this issue include the following:

  • Solange Pierre on the recent legal victory and the resulting precedent for migrant Haitians expelled from the Dominican Republic where 700,000 live, mostly in work camps called bateyes on sugar plantations.
  • Margot Salomon on the work being carried out by MRG in the build up to the World Conference Against Racism (WCAR), including raising awareness of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) and work towards facilitating the participation of minority and indigenous NGOs in all WCAR events.
  • Lucy Mulvagh on the Draft Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union which was to be considered for adoption by the Nice European Council in December 2000.
