UN Committee to review the rights of children in Mauritania – MRG, ASI and SOS Esclaves’ Contribution

Advocacy statements |

Mauritania will see its laws, policies and state practices affecting children reviewed by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child at its 79th session, in September 2018, to assess their conformity with the Convention of the Rights of the Child that the country has ratified in 1991.

Ahead of this review, Minority Rights Group International (MRG), Anti-Slavery International (ASI) and SOS Esclaves, our partner in Mauritania, have submitted jointly an alternative report focussing on the situation of children in slavery in Mauritania, as well as Haratines and of Black Africans children of slave descent.

The full report can be accessed here.
