The Eleventh Session of the UN Forum on Minority Issues takes place over the next two days and this year, the Forum focuses “Statelessness: A Minority Issue”.
Statelessness is a human rights issue disproportionately affecting minorities around the world, so it is fantastic to see this issue spotlighted. It is a perfect platform for people living without a nationality to speak about their experiences, highlight the urgency to find a solution and encourage action in addressing the issue. However, as stateless persons without papers, it is unfortunate that many of these people are unable to travel to Geneva and stand at the podium.
They may be stateless, but they are not voiceless. From Romas in Ukraine to Yezidis in Iraq, listen to their testimonies in this video to understand the impact of statelessness directly from them.
