Every child deserves an education free from discrimination. But millions miss out because they’re different.
Sanabil Shahzad is an anti-discrimination activist and speaker from Lahore, Pakistan. She’s Christian: a minority group in Pakistan who face religious and social exclusion as well as poverty. At university, Sanabil faced hate speech and insulting stereotypes. One professor even asked her to convert to Islam in exchange for higher grades. She felt like she had no choice but to keep quiet. But Sanabil decided to speak up and share her experiences of discrimination. She’s become an anti-discrimination youth panelist and speaker in Pakistan.
Paterson Joseph is an acclaimed actor of screen and stage, playwright, and novelist. Discrimination at school, as the child of Caribbean immigrants in London, moved Paterson to support our education appeal. A familiar face of British television, his career spans drama and comedy. Joseph’s one man-play and upcoming novel explore the story of Charles “Ignatius” Sancho, an eighteenth-century African born on a slave ship who became an actor, writer, composer, Londoner and the first Black Briton to vote.
