Event: Access to Education and Health among Minority and Indigenous Communities in Kenya

Events |
Lake Bogoria, a site of great cultural and religious significance to the Endorois in Kenya.

With financial support from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Finland, Minority Rights Group International (MRGI) and partners are implementing a project to support ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and indigenous peoples in Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt, Uganda and Peru to enable the development of inclusive societies by addressing discriminatory laws, policies and practices that result in communities being deprived of their economic, social and cultural rights and ‘left behind’ in development.

As part of the project, Endorois Indigenous Women Empowerment Network (EIWEN) and TUDOF collected primary data, conducted analysis and reported on their findings which form part of a national briefing on Kenya. Minority Rights Group International conducted additional analysis of policies, laws and practices to point out disparity in access to health and education for the Endorois, Turkana, Ogiek of Elgon and Sengwer communities in Kenya.

We organised a virtual event where we shared the findings of the Kenya national briefing. The event was held on 6 May 2021 from 2:00 pm in Nairobi or 12:00 noon in London. Watch the full event now:
