EVENT: On the edge of society – Discrimination against Roma in Croatia and Bulgaria (BLG/ENG)

Events |

Do Roma face cases of discrimination? Why aren’t people from the community willing to report these cases? What is the situation of discrimination against Roma in Bulgaria and Croatia? What obstacles do Roma face in accessing justice? These and other questions will be discussed during a launch event that Amalipe Center will organise online with MRG on 15 October at 13:00 CEST.

The results of the report ‘Discrimination against Roma in Croatia and Bulgaria’ are gathered from fieldwork and focus groups conducted to reveal cases of discrimination, including school segregation and employment discrimination. Roma in Bulgaria face discrimination in all its forms, including racist prejudice by representatives of the executive and judicial authorities.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of the European Commission, the Commission for Protection against Discrimination, ambassadors, lawyers, NGOs and Roma activists.

WHEN? Friday 15 October 2021, 13.00 (Europe) / 12.00 (UK)

WHERE? On Zoom – more info on Amalipe’s website here – Registration for this event has now closed.

This event will be available in English and Bulgarian.
