GDS22 Side Event: indigenous, minority & marginalized people with disabilities
The Indigenous Persons with Disabilities Global Network, Vidas Negras com Deficiência Importam, International Disability Alliance, Minority Rights Group and partners are holding a side event during the Global Disability Summit 2022 (GDS22) on ‘Ensuring that indigenous peoples and minority with disabilities are not left behind in Covid-19 recovery efforts: Building new partnerships to meet urgent challenges’.
This side event seeks to initiate a dialogue to ensure that people with disabilities from indigenous, minority and marginalized communities, particularly women and girls, will be central in efforts to ‘build back better’ and aims to ensure that they are not left behind in areas that include the right to education, healthcare and economic revival.
The event will welcome presentations by co-chairs of the Indigenous Persons with Disabilities Global Network, representatives from the Roma rights movement (Europe), Dalit rights movement (South Asia) and Black Disabled Lives Matter movements (South America).
Interpretation will be provided in Portuguese, Spanish and International Sign.
