Calls for experts to research, write report and conduct organisation mapping on people with disabilities in Iraq

Minority Rights Group International is seeking an expert to conduct research and undertake a mapping exercise of activists and organisations in Iraq.

The researcher will be based in Iraq and will conduct research on the situation of minority people with disabilities. The researcher will have two distinct tasks:

  1. To undertake analyses of the issues that are faced specifically by minority people with disabilities, including the legal/policy/social factors that prevent them from accessing their rights, such as education, health, employment as well as civil and political rights. The researcher will produce a short but informative report on their findings which will be used for a submission to the CRPD on Iraq. The research should also include some specific focus on minority women with disabilities. The report may be written in English or Arabic but must be completed no later than 1 July 2019.
  1. To identify and connect with minority organisations or activists working on disabilities – and/or – disabled activists or organisations working on minorities. The researcher is expected to speak with these activists for their research and identify some organisations or activists that have the capacity to undertake further work and programming on promoting the rights of minority people with disabilities.

The overall budget available is £2000 which includes research expenses such as travel and accommodation.
