UN Committee against Torture to review Mauritania – MRG, ASI and SOS Esclaves’ Contribution

15 July 2018

The UN Committee against Torture will review Mauritania at its 64th session, in August 2018, to assess its compliance with the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment that the country has ratified in 2004.

Ahead of this review, Minority Rights Group International (MRG), Anti-Slavery International (ASI) and SOS Esclaves, our partner in Mauritania, have submitted jointly an alternative report focussing on the continued failure of the Mauritanian state to prevent and punish persisting practices of slavery.

The full report can be accessed here.
