Bulgaria: Dialogue with the Smolyan Municipal Council

6 January 2025

Somolyan, Bulgaria: 27 June 2024

Prompted by the Rodopchanka Women’s Club, chairpersons of civil organizations, including those representing minority communities such as Pomacs, Roma, and vulnerable groups from the municipality of Smolyan, held a fruitful dialogue with Mr. Dimitar Katsarov, Chairperson of the Municipal Council of Smolyan.

Many questions were asked, and numerous problems were shared by the participating NGOs and representatives of vulnerable and minority groups from the municipality. The dialogue was animated, and the requests were supported by clear arguments. After the meeting, all requests were properly formulated and submitted in writing to the Chairman of the Smolyan Municipal Council, along with a request for assistance and the necessary actions for implementation.

Rodopchanka Women’s Club received Mr. Katsarov’s assurance that he will make efforts to ensure that all submitted requests reach the responsible parties and that solutions will be sought. Rodopchanka will monitor the development of events and strive to achieve the desired results, for which we will provide periodic updates to the public.
