Grants for supporting civil society’s role in education in Nepal
The European Union has opened a call for proposals aimed at improving the participation of civil society in the education sector to enhance advocacy, to ensure transparency and to increase effectiveness in national educational policy and implementation processes in Nepal.

Total grant amount: 1,500,000 EUR
Duration: 42 – 48 months
There are two lots under this call:
LOT1 – Advocating for Quality Education: Strengthen national civil society engagement in education sector planning, policy dialogue and monitoring transparency and accountability of national education sector policy and its implementation.
Grant amount: 350,000 EUR
LOT2 – Quality Education: leaving no one behind: Strengthen civil society’s role in promoting access to education for all girls and boys.
Grant amount: 1,150,000 EUR
Geographic scope: Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpashchim are the priority provinces for actions funded under this call for proposals.
Lead applicant: legal person, non-profit-making, organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator, local authority, international (inter-governmental) and be established in Nepal, in a Member State of the European Union or in any countries eligible under the Financing Instrument for development cooperation for the period 2021-2027.
The lead applicant must act with at least two co-applicants, but not more than five co-applicants. Co-applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria as applicable to the lead applicant himself.
Actions must take place in the following region(s):
LOT 1: Advocating for Quality Education: Actions must take place in at least two of the priority provinces and at national or inter-provincial level.
LOT 2- Quality Education: leaving no one behind: Actions must take place in at least two of the priority provinces.
Applicants shall propose financial support to third parties in order to help achieving the objectives of the action. The maximum amount of financial support per third party is EUR 60 000 except where achieving the objectives of the actions would otherwise be impossible or overly difficult, in which case this threshold can be exceeded.
Application and submission
- Provide information about the organisations involved in the action. To this end, lead applicants, co-applicants and affiliated entities must register in PADOR. Lead applicants must register at the concept note step. Co-applicants and affiliated entities must register at the full application step; lead applicants must make sure that their PADOR profile is up to date. Please note that the registration of this data in PADOR is obligatory for this call for proposals.
- The concept note together with the declaration by the lead applicant must be submitted online via PROSPECT.
