The project motivates educators and pupils to work with multicultural local history via creative means, with the aim of helping them appreciate the value of cultural diversity, tolerance and respect towards each other. It is open to any aspect of the local history of national minorities, ethnic and language groups, and multicultural environment in Slovakia, with three categories of literary (1), art (2), and audio-visual (3) production from first grade primary school to the final year of high school. The juries composed of minority representatives and practitioners in creative arts will select projects to be awarded in each category during an award ceremony. Furthermore, individual consultations and thematic workshops will be organised for educators and pupils to provide additional support to participants from disadvantaged backgrounds. The competition will lead to the creation of online proceedings, which will serve as free study and research material, as well as guidelines for educators on incorporating multicultural local history in the school curriculum in Slovakia.
