Mentoring Advice Pack
Mentoring aims to ensure that learning can be a mechanism for change. The objectives of this pack are: to give an overall understanding of what is meant by mentoring; to demonstrate the kind of situations where mentoring can be used and to give flexible guidelines for designing mentoring programmes for a variety of situations.
Many Non-Governmental Organizations involved in training try to democratize the learning or training process. The empowerment of people and the democratization of the learning process are important concepts for organizations promoting the legitimate aspirations of minority groups and others.
This publication has been produced following practical mentoring programmes by MRG and its partner organizations and will be useful for anyone involved in education and training within an organization.
Please note that the terminology in the fields of minority rights and indigenous peoples’ rights has changed over time. MRG strives to reflect these changes as well as respect the right to self-identification on the part of minorities and indigenous peoples. At the same time, after over 50 years’ work, we know that our archive is of considerable interest to activists and researchers. Therefore, we make available as much of our back catalogue as possible, while being aware that the language used may not reflect current thinking on these issues.
