Language: Arabic and English 

Fee/duration: 20 EUR per hour, average 40 hours per month for 12 months.

Background

Minority Rights Group (MRG) is implementing the Strengthening Minority Voices (SMV) project to empower civil society actors, focusing on marginalized groups, including religious ethnic minorities and sexual/gender LGBTQIA+ communities. The program provides participants with essential skills in minority rights and intersectionality, international advocacy, project design, and management to enhance their impact. The training combines online modules with mentorship for selected grant winners to ensure sustainable outcomes. MRG seeks a consultant to support participants of during the online training, and offer tailored mentorship to grant winners.

The objective of the consultancy 

The consultant will mentor the winning projects for diaspora organizations in the Strengthening Minority Voices programme in the to ensure effective implementation and sustainability. The consultant will also guide participants in the online training of the Strengthening Minority Voices Course and facilitate an engaging, inclusive, and effective online learning experience for participants enrolled in the course. The consultant will ensure smooth delivery, encourage participation, support learning process, assess participants and collect success stories and key lessons learnt.

Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities 

Mentorship for Winning Projects 

  • Provide mentorship to subgrantees to support effective implementation. 
  • Offer strategic advice for sustaining advocacy efforts and achieving measurable impact

 Online Training Facilitation 

  • Actively lead and moderate online discussions, webinars, and interactive sessions to ensure a stimulating learning environment.  
  • Provide clear guidance and respond to questions to assist participants in navigating course content, ensuring understanding of key concepts.  
  • Encourage participation and foster a collaborative and inclusive learning atmosphere. 

 Participant Support 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participants, addressing concerns, questions, and technical issues related to the course platform.  
  • Monitor participant progress and engagement, offering timely feedback on assignments, quizzes, and activities.  
  • Motivate participants to stay on track with deadlines and course expectations.

Engagement and Interactivity

  • Promote active engagement with course materials through thought-provoking questions, practical exercises, and real-world applications.  
  • Facilitate group activities, peer-to-peer interactions, and collaborative projects, ensuring all participants are involved.  
  • Utilize a range of interactive tools such as polls, quizzes, and case studies to enhance learning and maintain high levels of participation.

Assessment and Feedback

  • Provide constructive feedback on assignments, quizzes, and group work, offering personalized recommendations for improvement.  
  • Develop assessment tools in collaboration with course editors to measure participants’ learning progress and knowledge retention.  
  • Track and report participant performance, identifying areas where further support may be needed.

Content Collaboration and Adaptation

  • Recommend adjustments to materials or teaching approaches based on participant feedback or learning difficulties encountered during the course.

Course Monitoring and Improvement

  • Gather and analyze participant feedback to continuously improve the delivery of the course.  
  • Provide detailed reports on participant engagement, completion rates, and suggestions for improving future course offerings.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • Assist participants in resolving any technical issues they may encounter with the online platform.  
  • Ensure smooth operation of online sessions, managing technical logistics for webinars, video conferencing, and other digital tools.

 Monitoring and Reporting 

  • Submit periodic reports to MRG on participant progress and challenges encountered. 
  • Provide a final mentorship report, after each cohort, summarizing key outcomes and lessons learned. 

Deliverables 

  • Mentorship of Winning Projects: Guide project winners through project implementation, guiding them on advocacy strategies and channels, fundraising opportunities, and participatory project management. 
  • Pre-Training Preparation: Review training materials and prepare for facilitation sessions through dedicated session plans.  
  • Online Training Engagement: Offer quality facilitation for participants’ taking part in the online training. Supporting them with one-to-one calls to answer questions or difficulties with assignments whenever possible. 
  • Reports: Submit progress updates on the grantees and the online trainees and a final report summarizing the mentorship journey and outcomes. 

Timeframe and Commitment 

  • Mentorship for Projects: Provide continuous mentorship to 10 grantees winners for 12 months, with one meeting per month per grantee. 
  • Online Training: Facilitate the 8-week online training twice over a period of 6 months. 
  • We expect the mentorships to take a 180 hours in total and Online Facilitation 150 hours per cohort. There will be times when work load is heavy.

Qualifications and skills required 

Essential

  • Experience in international advocacy (UN/EU) preferably for rights of ethnic and religious minorities and gender issues. 
  • Strong expertise in project development, budgeting, and M&E frameworks. 
  • Demonstrated facilitation, mentorship, and capacity-building skills. 
  • Knowledge of the Egyptian context, particularly in relation to human rights, advocacy, and minority issues.  
  • Familiarity with online learning environments and tools, including Zoom and Moodle.  
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with diverse participants. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on project implementation strategies.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with human rights NGOs and conducting international advocacy.  
  • Experience in providing feedback and facilitating learning in cross-cultural environments.

Working environment

  • Work from home.  
  • Need for a computer and access to a fast and reliable internet.
