Call for Experts: Contribution to Shadow Report on the CRPD – Egypt

Minority Rights Group (MRG) is seeking qualified experts to research and draft a contribution to a shadow report on Egypt’s implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This submission will specifically examine the human rights situation of persons with disabilities who also belong to religious, ethnic, gender, or sexual minorities

The selected expert will be responsible for:

  • Conducting informal focus group discussion and interviews with Organisations of People with Disabilities (OPDs) to identify the most persisting issues and the needs for any required reforms
  • Assessing the legal and policy frameworks impacting persons with disabilities in Egypt.
  • Investigating patterns of discrimination and rights violations affecting persons with disabilities from minority backgrounds.
  • Providing well-sourced examples and case studies, with an emphasis on first-hand information (e.g., interviews, reports from community-based organizations) rather than solely relying on secondary sources.

The structure of the report should align with the CRPD List of Issues format, which can be found here

Deliverables and Timeline:

  • Approximate word count: 10,700 words
  • Language: English
  • Deadline for completion: 30 September 2025
