Női szeszély
Organisation: ROMES FOR DEVELOPMENT Civil Association | ROMÁK A FEJLŐDÉDÉRT Civil Egyesület
Location: Ibrány
The project addresses the relationship between the local Roma community and the healthcare sector, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by pregnant Roma women. Many do not receive adequate information or medical support and cultural norms surrounding early childbearing contribute to negative attitudes among healthcare professionals. As a result, Roma women often experience traumatic childbirth, birth injuries and substandard medical care.
Sexual education is a cultural taboo within the Roma community, with discussions between parents and children hindered by deep seated superstitions and inhibitions. This lack of education exacerbates health risks and limits access to essential reproductive health information.
Efforts will be made to foster positive change by improving healthcare interactions, increasing awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding sexual education.
