Through community work with MRK and regular mapping of the needs of the target group, the Community Center for Minorities found that on four streets and in eight residential blocks, where 750 Roma live, it is necessary to continue regular education about improving the environment, proper heating, the hygienic condition of entrances in apartment buildings, as they are residents of residential buildings II. and III. category, approved in 1952, who heat their homes themselves. Properly storing wood and using dry wood for heating occurs to a very small extent. That is why smog situations arise – especially in winter in Veľky Krtíš. At the same time, it is necessary to achieve prevention against the fires and prevention of the emergence of infectious diseases. According to our findings, there are still households that heat with PET bottles, although their number has decreased, so our goal is to make all households heat with wood because burning wood creates a perfect circle in nature. This fact contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
