Peoples under Threat 2020

Peoples under Threat |

The Covid-19 pandemic is worsening the impact of existing conflicts and increasing the risk of mass violence, according to new data gathered by Minority Rights Group International (MRG) and the Ceasefire Centre for Civilian Rights.

Peoples under Threat identifies those country situations around the world where communities face the greatest risk of genocide, mass killing, or systematic violent repression. Based on current indicators from authoritative sources, Peoples under Threat has been compiled every year since 2005 to provide early warning of potential future mass atrocities.

This year’s index draws attention to the numerous instances where Covid-19-related sanitary measures have reinforced discrimination towards minority communities.
